MARSEILLE, 10 October 2026 (#ADI) – A Djiboutian delegation took part this week in the 5th edition of the Strategic Meetings of the Mediterranean (RSMed), in Toulon and Marseille, and multiplied the interviews with institutional, academic and port actors of the South Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.

The RSMeds were held on 7 and 8 October. The delegation’s visits took place from 6 to 9 October.

The delegation brought together three personalities: Hassan Omar Mohamed, Director of the Djibouti Institute of Diplomatic Studies, Dr. Sadat Saleh Said, Director of the Energy and Environment Research Centre of the University of Djibouti, and Mohamoud Robleh Dabar, Coordinator of Cooperation between the Republic of Djibouti and the South Region. She represented the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and the University of Djibouti.

On the margins of the forum, Djiboutians first exchanged with Guillaume Huet, Director of Cooperation of the Southern Region, on cooperation between territories. In Toulon, they were received by the Vice-Admiral of Wing Laurent Hermann, at the Maritime Prefecture of the Mediterranean, then by Admiral Pascal Ausseur, Director General of the Foundation for the Mastery of Strategic Issues (FMES).

The program also included a visit to the University of Toulon, where they met with its president, Xavier Leroux. They then went to the Regional Operational Centre for Monitoring and Rescue of the Mediterranean, headed by Commander Aymeric Le Masne de Chermont, and to the Grand Port Maritime de Marseille, where they were welcomed by Commander Philippe Affre.

According to the delegation’s communiqué, the Djiboutians “recognized the strength of the ties” with their partners in the Southern Region and reaffirmed their commitment to further “concrete” cooperation between the two territories.

The delegation also met with Djiboutians living in France. In particular, she praised an entrepreneur in the heart of Toulon, who has been running a grocery store there for over thirty years. It is known locally as “Ali Baba”.
